Our First Parent Teacher Meeting

Last week our class went into the Sunnyside Environmental School to meet with parents and teachers to present some designs we had been working on.  We had been working out some initial ideas about what areas of the school grounds could use some restructuring.  After some quick presentations of ideas, parents and teachers added comments concerns and helped offer some new direction.  We feel it is very important to work side by side with the students, parents, teachers and community members to create spaces that will benefit everyone.  Thanks so much for everyone who came out to hear our proposals and add input.

Design Process...Getting Started!

Since our spring term studio began several weeks ago, we have been hard at work, getting to know the Sunnyside Environmental School community and the site. We've had the chance to visit the school and the neighborhood and have been able to meet with some students, parents and teachers. Working in teams, we've been fleshing out some design ideas in drawings, models and conversations. We are so excited to be apart of this project, and to be able to share our progress with you! Our scale model of the school and the site was finished last week, which is helping us to visualize plans for the outdoor classroom, what it might look like and where it should go.

Working in teams, we addressed different areas on the school grounds where a potential classroom could go and put together some posters to help us express our ideas. Here's some of what we came up with:
